New Hope School was incorporated
in 1960 by a small group of parents whose children were developmentally
disabled and were unable to receive education in the public school system.
Through their collaborative efforts, educational and vocational classes were
conducted in local churches and storefronts. New Hope School soon
evolved into New Hope Center, Inc. and a vast array of services were
provided to individuals with developmental disabilities far beyond
educational and vocational programming.
New
Hope Center is now in its 48th year, and its programs include developmental
training, residential services, employment services, special recreation, and
a variety of community support services to adults and children with
disabilities. New Hope Center currently provides services to over 400
individuals with developmental disabilities, and continues to meet the
individual needs of each of its program participants as they increase skills
and move toward greater independence and integration in their communities.
